The Unbearable Whiteness of Being
The Unbearable Whiteness of Being series was started in 2000, when my then ten year old son, who was raised on whole wheat and tofu, demanded red meat and Wonderbread (he has since stopped eating the stuff).

Wonder Woman and White Bread Boy made their debut at Otto’s in Olympia for the 2000 Spring Arts Walk. They went on to be accepted in the juried "21st Annual International Art" exhibit at the Whatcom Museum in Bellingham, WA that year.

Parenthood was specifically created for the Washington State Capitol Museum's exhibit, "Thurston County Through Artists’ Eyes," 2002, and was also included in a Northwest Designer Craftsmen show at the Everett Center for the Arts, 2003.

Builds Strong Bodies (I Feel Wonderful) was first displayed in 2004 at South Seattle Community College's "Litter-alley Re-Polished," a four-person invitational recycled art show (with moi, Ross Palmer Beecher, Marita Dingus, and the late Meng Huang). It was more recently included in the Enumclaw, WA juried art competition, "BaseCamp", where it received the Iris McLaughlin ARTS ALIVE! award, 2005.

Wonderful Family has been on exhibit in the 2004 "Re-Art Show Invitational" in Seattle, "Detritus: Recycling with Imagination" at the Synagogue for the Arts in New York City, 2005, "Arte de Descartes VI" in Taos, New Mexico, 2005, and "Art of Recycling" at Snohomish County Arts Council Gallery, Everett, WA, 2006.

You Look Wonderful was created specially for the 4th Re-Art Show invitational in Seattle, 2005, and even appeared on KOMO-News 4. It also was in the "1st Annual Juried Show" at South Puget Sound Community College Gallery, 2006, as well as "Art: Recycled, ReCreate, ReNew" at Kirkland City Hall, 2006.

Wonderful Self-portrait was also included in the "1st Annual Juried Show" at South Puget Sound Community College Gallery, "Art: Recycled, ReCreate, ReNew," and "Art of Recycling," 2006.

Bag Lady made her debut at "Art of Recycling," Snohomish County Arts Council Gallery, Everett, WA, 2006.
